Don't Fall for the BS!

Blog-Don't Fall for the BS!-The Sai Life

Food companies are lying to you about their “healthy” products. Shocking! Not. For the longest time these screwballs were profiting off us because we didn't know any better — until now. 😉

10 “Healthy” Product Lies

1. "Grass-Fed" vs "100% Grass-Fed"

Lie: "Grass-fed beef" sounds elite. Reality: Often grain-finished at the end. Truth: Grass-fed = started on grass, finished on grain (sometimes); 100% grass-fed = never touched grain. Big difference in omega-3s, inflammation, and quality.

2. "Natural"

Lie: Sounds clean and unprocessed. Reality: Completely unregulated term. Truth: Can still contain artificial flavors, preservatives, and highly processed ingredients.

3. "Made With Real Fruit"

Lie: You think whole fruit is inside. Reality: Usually fruit juice concentrate or syrup, with a tiny % of actual fruit. Truth: Basically sugar with marketing.

4. "Multigrain"

Lie: Must be healthier than white bread. Reality: Just means multiple grains… still refined. Truth: Look for "100% whole grain" or "whole wheat" as the first ingredient.

5. "Low-Fat" or "Fat-Free"

Lie: Less fat = healthier. Reality: They replace fat with sugar and additives. Truth: Worse for fat loss and hormones.

6. "No Added Sugar"

Lie: Sounds like no sugar. Reality: Still loaded with fruit juice concentrate, dates, or honey. Truth: Blood sugar still spikes the same.

7. "Gluten-Free" (on junk food)

Lie: Healthier option. Reality: Often more processed and higher in sugar/fat. Truth: Only matters if you're sensitive.

8. "Organic Junk Food"

Lie: Organic cookies or chips = healthy. Reality: Still high calorie and high in sugar/fat. Truth: Organic does not equal fat-loss friendly.

9. "Plant-Based"

Lie: Automatically healthy. Reality: Could be ultra-processed oils or soy fillers, and fake meats with long ingredient lists. Truth: Some are worse than real food.

10. "0 Calories" or "Zero Sugar" Drinks

Lie: No impact on the body. Reality: Artificial sweeteners can spike cravings and affect gut health. Truth: Doesn't mean "free pass."

Bonus Lies (Advanced Level)

  • "Cage-Free Eggs": Chickens are still packed indoors. Look for "pasture-raised."
  • "Wild-Caught" fish: Sometimes misleading labeling or mixed sources. Always check origin.
  • Serving size tricks: The label says 120 calories, but it's 2–3 servings in one package—you eat 360 calories without realizing.

The Real Rule (This Is What You Live By)

If it has a long ingredient list, words you can't pronounce, or needs marketing to sound healthy—it probably isn't as healthy as it claims.
